Dear Readers: First of all, I want to say I want to prevent cancer recurrence. Recurrence means cancer coming back. I survived a Desmond tumor 15 years ago. A Desmond tumor is a very low grade sarcoma, only 10% chance to recur. I know with the lifestyle adjustments in this book I learned and do, the chance of recurrence is probably zero. Recurrence, or cancer coming back is fatal in this disease, as I read in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center literature. The next thing I want to mention is, the price you pay for this book is the cost of printing this book. I just rounded off the pennies of the cost figure provided by the publisher, to make it a lucky number. The number .38 means being alive and thriving. I am a physician specialing in cancer treatment. That is: I am an ocologist. For the last 10 years before my retirement. I "preached" lifestyle interventions to my cancer patients, in addition to them receiving standard treatments. I hoped to treat them better. I did not have much expectations in life-style-change ended up controlling cancer in the beginning. Why, simply, cancer is a hell lot of a disease. You don't expect little things like exercise, which is one of the seven life-style interventions, could do much against this devilish disease, isn't it? But to my big surprise, patients with bad cancers that were expected to survive abut 1 or 2 year. Instead, they survived 3, 5, and 7 years. And it was most of them! I was exhilarated. Patients and families were happy. They were smiling. Can you imagine a person with "terminal" cancer, or their family, smiling genuinely? But, after all, a few more years is a few more years. My once sad oncologist life was turned into an acceptable one. I thrived and got the highest rating. Thanks. MY oncologist life used to be a sad one. For more than 30 years I was sad all the time inside, but now I am a happy oncologist. I would love to work till the day I die. But there was something more important. There was another calling. All the cancer patients in the world may not have known this cancer-fighting weapon they can pick up and work miracles. In the web world one can access Google or others, and find millions of ways to fight cancer, as one can read. What is the real thing? As a cancer survivor and a cancer specialist, I know. My patients' case- histories assured me of what really can beat cancer. So I reluctantly retired, though it was already beyond my retirement age - just to write books to help prevent cancer recurrence. I was reluctant, for I loved my cancer patients, and enjoyed treating them. But I have to do it. This is a higher calling. If you hesitate to believe that simple lifestyle interventions could help you prevent a good cancer from coming back, I understand. Good cancer coming back? Yes. Good cancers do come back, given time. Though the chance is small. Even stage zero breast cancers can come back by 20% or 30% chance. Stage zero here is ductal breast cancer in situ. No recurrence! Unbelievable. But I searched my memory hard, I really don't remember even a single case of a good breast cancer that ever recurred. It does not seem real. Could it be I am getting senile? No, that is what the impression I have. I am smiling on this fond memory. Moderate amount of exercise is one of the 7 lifestyle interventions I emphasized in this book. How powerful is it? Two major studies showed it prevented cancer by 40-60%. It also prevented cancer recurrence. Hail to these two big studies from major US universities. They have costed more than two hundred million dollars. It is worth every single penny. There are other similar studies showing the same percentage caner prevention for different cancers, just doing simple exercise like walking. There are studies from all over the world confirming that. With this said. I hope you would benefit from it. God bless.

These reflections on my terminal cancer have only one purpose in mind: to bring together those who would heal. and those who would be healed. And to preserve protect and prolong life, hold it sacred against all impediments and anyone who would have it otherwise. They mirror the human predicament reflected in a single heart, are written with no intent to harm, and hold everybody harmless in an effort to save lives. Some of the names have been altered to protect the innocent, while others have been used with their permission. Everything written and implied explicitly. or implicitly, is solely the perception of the author. The story of my life struggling with the cancer in me and the cancer out there as I call it, that would have had me dead before my time, is an odyssey that allows one to look into oneself. The fragility and insouciance of human nature is terrifying, disheartening and inconceivable at times, but nonetheless allows one to transcend it if one has the courage and tenacity to survive against all odds. Thats what this story is all about. I dedicate this book to all those who would unstintingly heal, knowing what cannot be known. hold life sacred and seek this truth so as to transcend themselves and act with compassion. humility and unerring faith, to help others survive.

Nowadays one out of three people get cancer. This means that nearly everyone will be confronted with this disease directly or indirectly. For most people this is a real nightmare. But there are also people who say that cancer was the best thing ever happened to them. One disease, two totally different perceptions. How is this possible? In 2000 just after the birth of her fourth daughter Yvette van Boven received the message nobody wants to hear: "You have cancer!" A life changing and paradigm shattering experience. Her cancer, life-changing experiences, and recovery set her on a quest that led her to research many stories of cancer patients who died and stories of cancer patients who survived their cancer. She was especially interested in the seemingly 'incurable' terminal cancer patients, who were send home by their doctors to die, but are still alive today. During the time she had cancer her life changed completely when she discovered that she was not the victim of her cancer but of her lack of consciousness and her limited thoughts and beliefs. In fact that she was the creator of her life. She knew that if this was true it meant that somehow she had created her cancer - a thought she did not like at all - but it also meant that it would be possible to turn her situation around and become the creator of her health, so she did ... At the lowest point of her life when she believed she would die soon, Yvette found the key to unlock the door of her cancer prison. She was shown that LOVE was the way to set herself free. Instead of fighting her cancer she started to embrace and love her cancer and started to look at the benefits and the gifts. This way she was able to find back her inner strength, which transformed her from being a powerless victim and a people pleaser, believing that whatever she did was never good enough, into the powerful and thriving woman she is today. "Cancer is a Gift is quite simply the most empowering book about cancer that I have ever read. It illuminates the truth with a capital T. My hope is that everyone diagnosed with or afraid of cancer finds the courage to read-and live-the message of this book. Bravo!" - Christiane Northrup "This book shares what I have learned over the years. There is survival behavior and you can learn from survivors about what helps them to exceed expectations and induce self-healing. When we are willing to ask not Why Me? But what can I do with it? Our lives and bodies respond to the message and indeed all the side effects of cancer are not bad. Many people will tell you it was a wake-up call and new beginning. So read on and rebirth yourselves." - Bernie Siegel "The capacity to see cancer as a challenge, a quest, and a journey toward a deeper affirmation of life, love, and all that matters is, indeed, a gift. It is a gift Yvette gave herself, and a gift she gives to all who read this book. Yvette, your message is profound, compelling, and evocative. I applaud your work, and celebrate your recovery." - David L. Katz "This wonderful book will give you the inspiration and determination to deal with and even overcome your cancer." - Brian Tracy "A wake-up call to all of us, not just for anyone with cancer. Read it. Give it to everyone you know. The message will get all of us through any dark night of the soul." - Dr. Joe Vitale "Yvette is a person with tremendous courage and talent. Read what she writes, listen to what she says, and do what she suggests." - John Harricharan "This is a beautiful and encouraging book. I wish my mom had the opportunity to read this before her terminal diagnosis of brain cancer. We might be celebrating her recovery instead of remembering her untimely passing. I highly recommend it" - Colette Baron-Reid "It's not always easy to find the 'Gift' in every moment, especially when the gift is cancer. Yvette has done just that in an inspiring, uplifting and, for all who enjoy the read, life-changing way" - Janet Bray Attwood

This book is a journal or diary of a man who rescues an infant from a psychotic father who determined the child to be his threat and murdered the mother with poison while intentionally hiding his crimes from his family. Andreas Munch rescued the infant in question and raised another mans child from infancy and helped him develop the skills to survive and thrive in such a hostile world. It shows poetic sonnets from key points in the life of Andreas, which brings him toward comprehension and gratefulness for the blessing of raising this child of such sorrow and trauma. Upon facing life challenges, he must face struggles the same as any other wavering soulby day showing strength and courage, but at night wallowing in his anxiety and pain. His wife died very young, leaving him with two sons to raise. He felt bitterness at first, but his first son died falling off cliff and second son died from frigid cold exposure. His trauma complete, he turned to help and work for his nation. Upon travels through France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, then Russia in service to a dear friend given no choice, she requests him to raise her son as his own, for she knew her death was imminent. Similar to my mothers mother was Vena Oneida Jehle Alexandrovich Romanov Walters, undenounced to anyones knowledge, her father being Sergei Jehle Alexandrovich, and her mother, princess of Hess, was murdered when Vena was age four. Pauline Catherine Bonaparte Jehle Alexandrovich Romanov was murdered after childbirth by poison. Venas mother was murdered, pushed down a staircase to keep her silent of her lineage. All forgotten except one photograph. Sergei was known as Rudolphus Walters, but in another photo G. D. McGinnis. Multiple identities discovered for these men who migrated and created so many families across Mississippi, Missouri, Alabama, Louisiana, Kansas, Arkansas. The book is a tribute to Andreas Munchs life. Without him, I would not exist.

Stephen helped Nancy to cure herself of terminal cancer by finding in her mind and using a survival intelligence that we all have.We live in a frenetic, increasingly fast-paced world, where terrorism lurks around every corner and dangerous diseases are just a plane ride away. It's no wonder that so many of us live in chaos, our brains clogged by fear. But what if fear is actually the real danger? What if it's all an illusion, a systematic blockage by too much thinking that keeps us from unlocking an amazing, life-saving ability within our brain? You may know this power as intuition, or a gut feeling, or that still, small voice deep inside, and this survival intelligence is present in each and every one of us. And though it is known by over fifty names in English alone and is as old as time itself, it is still deeply misunderstood. Science calls it our "inner radar," the ability to know that danger is approaching and to prepare for it. The Guidebook illuminates this stunning ability in its many dynamic and incredibly useful ways, how we lost touch with it, and how we can find and use it again naturally and spontaneously in our increasingly complicated and dangerous world. In all honesty, without it there is no way that we can survive much longer.Through The Whisper In Your Heart and this companion volume The Guidebook to the Whisper in Your Heart, with almost fifty years of experience, psychotherapist Stephen G. Scalese, MSW has created a revolutionary road map for accessing this survival intelligence after using it to help Nancy--and changing changing his own life forever.Using simple science-based techniques and a free mp3 training recording, this enlightening guide guarantees to show you just how close you are to living the life you've always wanted and how accessing this natural power of the mind can bring on a more positive future for us all.

For 58 years, I have been trying to find the total cure of cancers, started in 1969 when I worked as a radiation therapy (RT) technologist in Hong Kong. In 1971, I came to the United States, worked in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in mid-town Manhattan as a RT technologist, and attended pre-medical studies at Hunter College of the City University of New York at night, just 3 city blocks away from MSKCC. After graduation in 1981 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine, I have been treating cancer patients as a physician since. I kept up with the cancer research side, and saw its meandering roads through the recent decades. In this book, I wrote all the essence of those times and landmark findings, including how the real cause of cancer was found in the mid 1980's with the HIV epidemic, when the virus damaged young folks' immune systems, lots of cancers started in a lot of those patients with weakened immune system. Later years when the AIDS virus was treated well, the patients immune system became a lot stronger, and cancers became a lot less. Showing cancers happen with a weakened immunity, yet when it is restored somewhat, cancers can be kept at bay, even in the HIV patients. My patient all improved their immune systems easily. In the mid 1990's, I studied 600 papers from population studies that each costed hundreds of million dollars. Their findings pointed to seven lifestyles, diets and releasing the stress can beat up cancers very well, by each one of the anti-cancer tips, like preventing cancers at 40% more with exercises alone. I gave patients all the seven findings from 400 better-run studies, I called them the seven anti-cancer tips in this book. Their survival figures were all much superior to textbook statistics. The patients with terminal cancers after conventional treatments, as textbooks say would survive about a year, but my similar patients with conventional Rx plus the seven anti-cancer tips, survived 3 to 5 times longer for most of such patients. The ones with non-terminal cancers, there were more than 1000 such patients I treated over the last 15 years in my medical oncologist career, text book recurrent rate at 20% to 30%, would yield 200 to 300 of the patients with cancer recurred (came back), and most likely died from it. Yet, I only had two of my patients with cancers came back, not 200 to 300. That should prove Nostradamus of the Balkans' prophecy of "The day will come when cancer will get tie up with iron chains" is accurate (She is accurate 85% of the time. But to be objective, this results need well controlled studies to prove its scientific value.) But this is a real world finding, I honestly recorded what happened as it was in each case. But doing all those seven anti-cancer tips, the original papers showed patients' quality of life with cancer is a lot improved. So, at the least, as you can see, my offerings would fit "First, do no harm" as Hippocrates urged each of us physicians to remember. That is, this book would do no harm. In fact, I imagine it will do a lot of good.So I feel very much at ease to try to get this book published before studies to prove it, which is very important to do, for simply because saving lives trumps the proof. The key important reason for making the events of this anecdotal cases real is the great changeable nature of the immune system, it can be easily restored to repel cancers, as I will describe scientifically the ways to do it in the book in details. The book is written like a novel of science fiction, yet it is a serious account, full of patients' cases of mine, and cases I borrowed from other health gurus' books, which I evaluated with my medical knowledge and thought their stories are legit. Most of them are well-trained M. D.'s, and most of them are NY Times best sellers. I think I will enjoy reading this book again and again myself.

On April 19, 1999, Virginia Garner swallowed capsules of an experimental drug now known as Gleevec and became one of the first few people to take an effective dose of this miracle drug that would change not only the history of chronic myelogenous leukemia, but the history of cancer as a whole. Even as Virginia was swallowing her first pills, melanoma was surging through the body of her husband Van. On October 1, 2001, it announced itself in the form of a tumor on his head. Like Virginia's diagnosis, Van's was terminal. Though he would fend off this nemesis with multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, the experimental drug Ipilimumab, and radiation, he would be part of a continuing drama in which death and salvation vied for the final word. In the midst of their treatments, Van and Virginia began running marathons. They entered races not only to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the fight against cancer, but also to prove to themselves that they were simply still alive. In this book, Virginia and Van Garner describe their thirteen-year struggle with and triumph over terminal cancers. Together they chronicle the suffering, struggles to survive, research, and decision-making process that led them to the doctors and cutting-edge science that saved them. Over the thirteen years that the Garners endured, there have been tremendous advances in the development of target drugs and immunotherapy. Unlike their doctors, the Garners are not being considered for Nobel Prizes, but they won the grand prize: They got to live.

Marty Younts was leading a successful, vibrant life when a diagnosis of terminal cancer brought things to a screeching halt. As a coping mechanism, she maintained a journal from the day of her diagnosis through surgeries, treatments, a stem-cell transplant, and recovery. This subsequent book is the handbook she wishes someone had given her at the beginning. When does your hair fall out? How does it feel to receive radiation? What is a stem cell transplant? Marty details her clinical experiences, reveals her raw emotions, and hopefully inspires others to do "Whatever It Takes." Praise for "Whatever It Takes" Dr. Marty Younts is a gifted writer with a style as such I could not put the book down. I found myself holding my breath many times. She includes unusually personal material only because it is the truth, and her courage and realness is so beyond the superficial hiding that most human beings devote so much time doing. The content is so pure and credible, and without her intending it, sensational. Marty engaged my senses simply by sharing her truth. The reader travels with her ups and downs, always pulling for her to get over the next hurdle. I wasn't expecting her to be so funny in a number of places, either. Finally, she sends a potent and compelling message to people everywhere regarding how to survive whether or not cancer has affected your life. - Dr. Holly Latty-Mann, The Leadership Trust

I know the importance of the individual experience of metastacised melanoma cancer, because it is a very special journey. People are prone to forget, such as when one forgets they have a finger, until they hit it; people also forget they have a life until it is very seriously threatened. The worst sentence in this world that a doctor can pronounce is, “I am sorry, but the medical profession can do nothing further for you.” This work explores how my wife, Jeannie, who was my home caregiver, and I travelled the cancer journey together. The journey was not the same for Jeannie as it was for me—it was my melanoma cancer, but I was Jeannie’s husband, and therefore the stress was that much more for her, as she never knew what further stresses she had to face. This book examines the strengths of our relationship, despite the difficulties of living on an island. It is interesting how we were aware of these difficulties, and yet we worked through them. Then came the details of how the cancer was treated, both by conventional and alternative treatment. My alternative treatment had a journey all of its own, incorporating several people, all of whom were heroes in their own right. This alternative treatment was later to be regarded as a miracle by several oncologists in a Brisbane hospital. It is a thoughtful, painful, and revealing account of the years spent fighting this cancer. This book is educative, giving a report on melanoma. Mainly, the message it brings is one of hope for those who now have seemingly no hope against melanoma. I had three CT scans and a bone scan in May 2012, proving I am still free of melanoma.

Predicting survival and other outcomes is increasingly being recognized as an important skill for palliative care physicians, internists, and other health care professionals who care for patients with advanced cancer at the end of life. There is much prognostic information available that is scattered throughout the palliative care and oncological literature but this is the first time it has been gathered systematically in one place. This bookhas 36 chapters divided into three sections. The first is an introductory section that deals with the principles of prognostication, including formulating the prediction and then communicating it. Topics such as statistical issues, evidence based medicine, and the ethics of prognostication are alsocovered. The second section addresses prognostication in fifteen specific cancers when they have reached the advanced stage. The third section deals with prognostication in patients with a variety of common clinical conditions at the end of life, such as bowel obstruction, hypercalcemia, and brain metastases.

Why haven’t I heard about this before? Maybe I can answer that. We have focused a lot of our hard earned taxpayer money and our attention and our faith from our hearts toward our trusted research team. But in fact they search mostly for drugs that can become commercially profitable. Our high tech labs “experiment with the unspeakable at a disgraceful cost”. The Lord’s “Masterpiece” need not be tampered with, only nurtured! This book fits the pieces of the puzzle together for the real answers to the cancer mystery.
