Discover the three secrets to happiness--and much more--in the later years of life. Never before in human history have so many people lived for decades beyond their working years. 10,000 Americans turn 65 each day, and their average life expectancy is another 20 years--and many will live longer. But will they just live or have a meaningful life? The truth is that many--if not most--people approaching the latter years do not have a plan, much less a strategy to thrive instead of just survive. Packed with information based on research as well as common-sense wisdom, here are some examples of what readers will discover: • How retiring at the wrong time increases the likelihood of dying 89%. • What can delay Alzheimer's onset an average of 9 years. • How everything that makes you happy comes in just 3 forms. • Which partner is most likely to initiate divorce after decades of marriage and why.

Americans are crazy about retirement. Everywhere we look there are books, articles, and websites dedicated to the subject—most of which are about how to get there fast, and how to enjoy it when you’re there. In this book, Chris Cagle, himself a recent retiree, challenges us to reimagine retirement from a distinctly Christian perspective. In the process, he will challenge our typical view of retirement as the ultimate reward for a life of hard work by asking key questions: What does the Bible have to say, if anything, about retirement? What would a God-honoring and glorifying retirement look like? If retirement is probable for most of us, how should we plan for it as wise stewards of the resources God has entrusted to our care? In Reimagine Retirement, Chris answers these and other questions to help us construct a vision of retirement that reflects the values, priorities, and purposes that are most important to God.

What am I going to do with my retirement? People talk about retirement like it’s supposed to be an endless vacation. But what if, like the majority of those facing retirement, you can’t afford such a luxury? Or, what if you just want something more from retirement? Some advocate for no retirement at all. But you’ve worked for decades and a rest and reprieve do sound appealing. What should you do? Does God have a purpose for your retirement? Yes, He does. Learn how to discern what it is by taking an uncommon approach. Jeff Haanen looks biblically and practically at the need for rest and purpose in retirement. And teaches you how to: Take a sabbatical rest in early retirement Listen to God’s voice for their calling in retirement Rethink “work” in retirement Understand family systems and leaving a legacy Planning retirement doesn’t have to be distressing. Retire in a way that’s God-honoring, purpose-filled, restful, and truly biblical.

What does the Bible say about retirement? Is it part of God s purpose for every Christian s life? The author doesn t think retirement is a biblical concept especially the way it s practiced in today s Western culture with a sense of entitlement. His aim in this book is to challenge readers to think about retirement and what the Bible has to say in relation to it. He encourages retirees to continue to be productive and contribute to the Kingdom, even though we might not work a 9-5 anymore. He is concerned that we have simply adopted our culture s thinking about retirement without examining it to determine whether it fits with our profession to acknowledge Jesus as our King which he feels is dangerous. We ve allowed the world to squeeze us into its shape and allowed the world to dictate to us all our dreams and goals and aspirations about this increasingly lengthy period of our lives. His aim in this book is to achieve a paradigm shift to get us thinking that retirement does not need to mean the end of productivity completely. He challenges us to evaluate our current concept of retirement by exploring in detail what the Bible says about it. "

Traditional retirement planning is completely backwards because it focuses on money first, then the individual or couple, and maybe some spiritual aspects if you're lucky. This backwards approach is why so many people struggle to make a smooth transition and waste the few first years trying to figure it out on their own.Interesting thing is, you'll never have it all figured out because God wants you to rely on him for direction and purpose. Reality is, the mainstream world portrays retirement as the ultimate goal, but it's not. Getting into heaven is! Have you felt failure in forgiving? Do you know how your justices and legislators should be acting upon critical decisions affecting the family? Does your marriage need a boost? Or, even your divorce? Would you like to know more about how to please God and support your friends in marital status? Have other authors avoided the controversial issues from the Bible? Perhaps you need a little help identifying and using your spiritual gift. Do a few passages of Scripture completely baffle you? Mr. Morris' walk through his Bible studies will surely help you in one or more of your challenges. Why not take your "walk" with him? Mr. Morris was saved as a 7-year-old. He felt the call to preach as an 11-year-old. He became a pretty serious Bible student right after salvation, and felt that desire grow for years. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, TX, with a major in Bible. He then spent most of his elective credits in pursuit of the New Testament as he earned a Master of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX. He served 27 months in the US Army. He retired from the pastorate after 1-1/3 years as assistant to the pastor and almost 29 years as senior pastor of four other churches. Whether in school, in pastoral ministry, in secular work, or in retirement, Bible reading and Bible study remain an important part of his life. He lives in retirement in Abilene, Texas, with his wife of 52 years, Betty Martin Morris. They have three children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Among other pursuits, he is at work on his second book, a Commentary on Romans and his next book on additional Biblical issues.
