When you stop trying to do so much, you get so much more done. Do you put yourself under too much pressure to succeed, which only makes it harder to achieve? Are you constantly playing catch-up and struggling to find time for the things, and people, you love? It doesn’t have to be this way. Anything is possible when you stop trying to do everything at the same time. Often it’s fear that keeps us stuck in our patterns. If we’re super busy then no one can say we’re not working hard. But there’s another way to live a life that’s both more enjoyable and more productive, if only we can break those routines. In Do Less, Get More, entrepreneur and bestselling author Shaa Wasmund reveals that when we embrace a “less is more” attitude, we can appreciate all the good things we already have and find the courage to prune the nonessentials. And then we can find the space in which to pursue exciting new opportunities. Wasmund teaches us how to become experts in the things we’re truly passionate about, rather than mediocre jacks-of-all-trades. Her tools include exercises like: * Escaping the “when, then” trap. Stop putting something off because you’re waiting to be ready (“I’ll start my own business when my kids are out of the house” or “I’ll lose weight when this project is over”). Take one practical step toward what you want right now. * Nurturing your support network: Who are the people who truly support you? Prioritize those who are genuinely on your side and practice asking for help. Focus on quality over quantity in developing your network. * Scheduling for value: What gets put in our calendar gets done. And you shouldn’t only plan for work projects: scheduling time for the people and activities you love and that give you purpose and energy is just as important. This life-changing book gives you the tools to ditch your to-do list and follow your dreams. It will be your essential guide to doing what you love—and letting go of the rest.

A certain kind of busyness is crucial to life, allowing us to earn a living, create art, and achieve success. But too often it consumes us and we become crazy busy, nonstop busy, and we expend extraneous effort that gets us nowhere. Marc Lesser’s new book shows us the benefits of doing less in a world that has increasingly embraced more — more desire, more activity, more things, more exhaustion. Less is about stopping, about the possibility of finding composure in the midst of activity. The ideas and practices that Lesser outlines offer a radical yet simple approach to transforming a lifestyle based on endless to-do lists into a more meaningful approach that is truly more productive in every sense.

A practical and spiritual guide for working moms to learn how to have more by doing less. This is a book for working women and mothers who are ready to release the culturally inherited belief that their worth is equal to their productivity, and instead create a personal and professional life that's based on presence, meaning, and joy. As opposed to focusing on "fitting it all in," time management, and leaning in, as so many books geared at ambitious women do, this book embraces the notion that through doing less women can have--and be--more. The addiction to busyness and the obsession with always trying to do more leads women, especially working mothers, to feel like they're always failing their families, their careers, their spouses, and themselves. This book will give women the permission and tools to change the way they approach their lives and allow them to embrace living in tune with the cyclical nature of the feminine, cutting out the extraneous busyness from their lives so they have more satisfaction and joy, and letting themselves be more often instead of doing all the time. Do Less offers the reader a series of 14 experiments to try to see what would happen if she did less in one specific way. So, rather than approaching doing less as an entire life overhaul (which is overwhelming in and of itself), this book gives the reader bite-sized steps to try incorporating over 2 weeks!

Learn how to achieve more by doing less! Live in that zone you’ve glimpsed but can’t seem to hold on to—the sweet spot where you have the greatest strength, but also the greatest ease. Not long ago, Christine Carter, a happiness expert at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center and a speaker, writer, and mother, found herself exasperated by the busyness of modern life: too many conflicting obligations and not enough time, energy, or patience to get everything done. She tried all the standard techniques—prioritizing, multitasking, delegating, even napping—but none really worked. Determined to create a less stressful life for herself—without giving up her hard-won career success or happiness at home—she road-tested every research-based tactic that promised to bring more ease into her life. Drawing on her vast knowledge of the latest research related to happiness, productivity, and elite performance, she followed every strategy that promised to give her more energy—or that could make her more efficient, creative, or intelligent. Her trials and errors are our reward. In The Sweet Spot, Carter shares the combination of practices that transformed her life from overwhelmed and exhausting to joyful, relaxed, and productive. From instituting daily micro-habits that save time to bigger picture shifts that convert stress into productive and creative energy, The Sweet Spot shows us how to • say “no” strategically and when to say “yes” with abandon • make decisions about routine things once to free our minds to focus on higher priorities • stop multitasking and gain efficiency • “take recess” in sync with the brain’s need for rest • use technology in ways that bolster, instead of sap, energy • increase your ratio of positive to negative emotions Complete with practical “easiest thing” tips for instant relief as well as stories from Carter’s own experience of putting The Sweet Spot into action, this timely and inspiring book will inoculate you against “The Overwhelm,” letting you in on the possibilities for joy and freedom that come when you stop trying to do everything right—and start doing the right things. ONE OF GREATER GOOD’S FAVORITE BOOKS OF THE YEAR “[For fans] of a certain kind of self-improvement book—the kind, like The Happiness Project or 168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think or Getting Things Done, that offers up strategies for making certain areas of life work better without requiring that you embrace a new belief system.”—KJ Dell’Antonia, The New York Times (Motherlode blog) “A breath of fresh air . . . A bold and inspiring memoir and manifesto from a renowned voice in the women's leadership movement who shows women how to cultivate the single skill they really need in order to thrive: the ability to let go. Once the poster girl for doing it all, after she had her first child, Tiffany Dufu struggled to accomplish everything she thought she needed to in order to succeed. Like so many driven and talented women who have been brought up to believe that to have it all, they must do it all, Dufu began to feel that achieving her career and personal goals was an impossibility. Eventually, she discovered the solution: letting go. In Drop the Ball, Dufu recounts how she learned to reevaluate expectations, shrink her to-do list, and meaningfully engage the assistance of others—freeing the space she needed to flourish at work and to develop deeper, more meaningful relationships at home. Even though women are half the workforce, they still represent only eighteen per cent of the highest level leaders. The reasons are obvious: just as women reach middle management they are also starting families. Mounting responsibilities at work and home leave them with no bandwidth to do what will most lead to their success. Offering new perspective on why the women’s leadership movement has stalled, and packed with actionable advice, Tiffany Dufu’s Drop the Ball urges women to embrace imperfection, to expect less of themselves and more from others—only then can they focus on what they truly care about, devote the necessary energy to achieving their real goals, and create the type of rich, rewarding life we all desire.

I wrote this book as part of a personal journey to learn more about nutrition and fitness so that I could better understand the role nutrition plays in reshaping my body. Once I discovered the prevalent fitness concept of carbohydrate rich diets and workout routines centered around cardio training were simply wrong, it became my mission to spread the word - the truth about nutrition and fitness. The discovery that regularly eating large amounts of carbohydrates and how that directly affected my blood sugar management was the key to determining why my body created and retained body fat. This realization led me to design Eat More, Do Less, Get Fit to explain why the current and accepted misperceptions about nutrition and training are so wrong and what I believe to be the correct method to reshape your body. When it comes to training, I learned that it is not cardio, but progressive weight training that will reshape your body. Cardio only trains slow-twitch muscle while progressive weight training works your fast-twitch muscle. Fast-twitch muscle fiber is the only one of the two that can be grown which is necessary to reshaping your body. I am just a regular guy who has discovered what it really takes to reshape your body through nutrition & fitness training and it is not near as hard as what you have been led to believe. All you have to do is Eat More, Do Less, Get Fit!
